SIGHTS AND ACTIVITIES
Royal Sandringham - Lots of beautiful forest walks are open to the public on Her Majesty's Estate. When the rhododendrons bloom in May, it's quite a sight. You can tour the House of course, and even the grounds in a Land Rover. There is a farmer's market on the 3rd Sunday of every month on the Estate, 10am to 3pm.
Holkam Beach, coming in at No 3 on England's best beach guide. Holkham is where 'Shakespeare in Love' was filmed. The beach is flanked by pine forests on both sides, giving beautiful, varied walking.
Wells next the Sea lies just to the east of Holkham. With its iconic beach huts on the golden sands, Wells is a must see. We recommend eating at The Golden Fleece.

Snettisham Beach - This has a lovely coastal path with all kinds of interesting flowers and plants. The sea buckthorn berry grows here. It's an edible superfood which we'll be attempting to grow at Flint Cottage. Snettisham also hosts one of Norfolk's natural wonders, the Red Knot (sandpiper) murmurations.
Brancaster Beach is a favourite too with dog walkers (though all are dog friendly). And Hunstanton is a kite surfing destination; its south beach is particularly pretty with spacious dunes for games and beach huts.

Castle Rising is a very pretty village with a great pub The Black Horse Inn and a walk from the Castle car park, through the village and across the fields. The 12th century Castle was home for 30 years to Queen Isabella, known as the She-Wolf of France. She was imprisoned there for the part she played in the murder of her husband, Edward II. Castle Rising is a regular haunt... for paranormal investigators since an extraordinary photograph of the Queen and her pet wolf in the White Room was published in the national papers! Regular events held here too!
Roydon Common Natural Reserve, with its freely grazing ponies, rare breed cattle and lovely heathers, makes a great walk.
BOAT TRIPS: there are several companies operating trips of varying lengths out to see the seals and to visit the old lifeboat station. And of course, there's day trips on the Broads.
You can visit England's oldest whisky distillery - St George's at Roudham.
The Oak Villa Gin Distillery is near there too. You can distil your own gin and learn the blending of botanicals for a fun experience!
Barsham Brewery has award winning ales. You could pop in for a tasting on your way to the beach.
If you like your cider and apple juice, Whin Hill at Wells has a lovely courtyard next to their 18th century ciderworks barn, where you can relax whilst sampling.
The world famous Norfolk Lavendar Distillery is at Heacham. You can book a tour to learn all about it.
